About Dr. Tancy C. Horn Johnson

  • Are you noticing changes in how you are going through the day — increased irritability, changes in sleeping patterns, nervousness, anger, etc.?

  • Are you mourning the loss of a relationship?

  • Are you feeling overwhelmed and unhappy?

  • Do you or a loved one struggle with disordered eating?

  • Are you in transition and experiencing stress, panic, depression, or anxiety?

I’m Dr. Tancy Horn Johnson and as a trauma-informed and certified therapist, I’m here to support you on your journey to move beyond PTSD and Trauma.

I am ERP Certified for OCD, EMDR-Consultant-In-Training; Accepting TX LMSW for LCSW Clinical Supervision; Accepting LCSW, LPC or LMFT in USA for Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) with International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP). As a CEDS-C, I’m here to guide you in changing your relationship with food. For anyone ready to address past trauma experiences, I use an eclectic approach and may use the Healing Our Core Issues (HOCI) model, to examine family of origin trauma, the work of Jan Bergstrom, LMHC, SEP, DARTT, and Dr. Rick Butts, who were intensely trained by Pia Mellody/The Meadows.

As a Somatic Therapist, I blend together a variety of body-centric, trauma-informed modalities to provide a personalized approach to Trauma/PTSD and ED's. These include EMDR/EMDRIA, Somatic Experiencing, , Interpersonal Neurobiology, Intuitive Eating, Exposure Therapy, TCTSY Yoga, HOCI/PIT, Gestalt, Empty Chair work.

I’m not afraid to dive deep into your inner world, using the lens of interpersonal neurobiology to examine and identify how our mind, body, brain and relationships interact to shape who we are as a person! You can begin noticing your nervous system (ANS) as a whole. I want to walk along beside you as you seek to achieve a heathier internal balance!

I have over 20 years of experience specializing in therapy with children, adolescents, families, and adults. I value spirituality and the importance of holistic, individualized treatment in working with clients to facilitate your self-evaluation, personal growth, change, and healing in your life and relationships.

My psychotherapy experience spans all levels of clinical practice, i.e., inpatient hospitalization, residential, basic, and outpatient therapy, i.e., 8.5 years at Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA (Children/adolescents and adults).

I have served as the Director of Residential Treatment at Methodist Children’s Home, and as a psychotherapist at DSHS.

I have published on diagnoses relative to children, adolescents, families, and college students.

I have presented diagnoses and evidence-based treatments at national, state, and local conferences.

I am passionate about women’s health issues, such as teen pregnancy, postpartum depression and maternal health.

Locally, I am on the BOD of NAMI Waco, Co-Chair for the 2018 NAMI Waco Gala, and Advisor for NAMI on Campus.
